The morning sunrise was just peaking over the hills as my Dad, my Papa, and I started walking on our private land near Guthrie, OK, from the campsite to the hunting area.
We were going for my second turkey.
My Papa veered off from us halfway to go to his hunting spot. We hadn’t heard any gobbling all morning so we walked to another spot on top of a hill overlooking a wheat field. From there we could see my Papa in his tree stand on the other side of the field.
Papa wasn’t hunting turkey, h…

Looking at Antelope decoys...headed to Canadian, TX next week...we've been very successful without one and we're letting the youngest son fill the one permit given to us this year, down one because of a population decrease in the area, and he's a crack shot w/ a rifle. Thought about Bow hunting them next year. Anyone have an opinion who has experience w/ an Antelope decoy?

I drew out for an antelope hunt in Texas county next month. Its been years since I've been up that way and I really don't know where to start. There are no public lands in my area so I'll have to hunt on private land. Does anyone have ideas where to start or what to expect?

During the drive home from the WILD Oklahoma Youth Dove Hunt last weekend, my daughter blurts out:
"bird right, bird right....chook chook...boom"
What a wonderful feeling as a Dad that we can make impressions on our children in such a positive ways. I dont know why she said it. But it obviously will stay in her mind for a very long time. I think all the kids enjoyed themselves on the hunt. There is no better place than spending time with a child in the woods, away from cell phones, texting, pl…

Putting the finishing touches on the properties for deer season. Got the feeders moved into their fall spots and put the foot plots in today. With little rain and we will be in business, went with alfalfa, clover, and chicory, the sorghum from june is starting to head out and looking good. Just need to move a couple tree stands around and we will be ready to go.

You were probably expecting me to talk about my gun, so this may be disappointing. I shoot very well with my .22 rifle, but even better with my camera. I'm not sure which I learned to shoot first. I've been doing photography my whole life. Studied it in high school, then college. I was too busy working at jobs with a guaranteed paycheck to go out on a limb and try to start my own photography business for many years. I was successful at every job and currently work in a professional job as a corp…

Scott Leiter and crew from Hunt, Sleep, Fish TV did a pretty darned good job with their first Red River Hunting Show. Putting on an event such as that this past weekend is a daunting task to be sure and it was a good time for us at WILD Oklahoma.
We got to meet some really cool people, network with like-minded Oklahoma outdoors fans and had the chance to meet some of you as well. In the aggregate, it was a refreshing experience.
Some things have to change, however, if we are to continue to pro…

Okla. attorney general takes on poultry industry
By JUSTIN JUOZAPAVICIUS

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — It’s hard to picture the crystal-clear Illinois River that Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson remembers from his youth, how he could look to the bottom and spot a dime, no matter how deep the water.
That was almost 45 years ago, and time has not been a friend. Pristine water has turned to green soup in some places. Algae coats the rocks and p…

WILD Oklahoma TV/Radio/Internet was created really because I got angry - angry because I saw so many outdoor programs in Oklahoma focusing on hunting, angling and outdoor activities in other states. I never understood that because Oklahoma is rich with hunting and angling traditions and not being a native Oklahoman myself, I have seen these amazing resources overlooked. I decided that enough was enough.
Putting together a television show isn't what folks think - it's not all fun and games. For…

We survived the First Annual WILD Oklahoma Women's Noodling Trip and the results were phenomenal. The ladies grabbed a monster 35lb beast and a couple small ones and were being "bit" all day. "Bit" means just that - they had their hands in a hole and the catfish chomped down on them - but with the gloves, the damage inflicted was neglibile.
The ladies had a few scrapes and scratches but really, nothing more than they would receive from spending a day out in the garden. The worst damage was sunb…

My daughter and I went camping in May. On the first night my daughter heard a hoot owl calling while we were trying to go to sleep in our tent. So naturally I began to hoot back at it. My daughter said "DAD, WHATS THAT?" mind you she is only three feet away. So I said "honey its an owl call". Which then she replied "daddy why are you doing alcohol?" Funny, but its a true story!

I'd love to be able to share some photos, but remember, "Stupid People Suck."
I've been catching some really nice bass (3-7#'s) on spinnerbaits, a bunch of crappie on jigs and a few catfish on juglines. I caught on blue yesterday that went about 25#'s
Strangely enough, some of the crappie are just now finishing the spawn. I've been catching them at about 4 ft in about 7 foot of water with still eggs in some of the females. They're mixed in with the catfish sometimes too. It's a lot of fun tryi…

Contact the Governor TODAY in Support of HB 1025!
On Monday, May 18, House Bill 1025 was sent to Governor Brad Henry (D) for his consideration. HB 1025 would prohibit private employers, public employers, and public officials from inquiring about a job applicant’s firearm ownership.
This bill, sponsored by State Representative Rex Duncan (R-35) and State Senator Anthony Sykes (R-24), was introduced in direct response to a lengthy employment questionnaire created by the newly-elected Obama Admin…
